The Park City Ski Education Foundation (PCSEF) announced today that Jesse Hunt, currently the U.S. Ski Team Alpine Director at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA) is the Park City Ski Team as a general Manager and Program Director on 1 June 2009 to join.
hunt succeeds Dave Galusha, which goes to the management of the Park City Ski Team for the past 13 years to national prominence at the Alpine Ski Club racing scene in retirement, in which PCST alumni like Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety Steve Nyman, Bryon Friedman, TJ Lanning was brilliant, Megan McJames, Hailey Duke, Tim Jitloff and others on the World Cup circuit.
“We started a deliberate succession plan late last year. When this opportunity presented itself, we felt it was the perfect fit for our club. The fact that we were able to attract a person of Jesse Hunt caliber is a testament to the success and growth that has the Park City Ski Team is achieved under Dave Galusha, “said George Woods Baker, President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees PCSEF. “I am obviously a phenomenal run in the last 13 years. It is really one of those bittersweet moments for me. The process of looking for my successor to have happened faster than I expected, but I think this is an extraordinary opportunity for the team and something they can not be missed. And, of course, I am able, I continued with the team in other ways, “said Galusha.
Hunt joined USSA in 1993 and initially held a variety of positions, including European Cup coach and World Cup technical coach. In 2002, Hunt named to the position of Director of USSA Alpine and has recently become part of what is arguably the most successful piece of alpine ski team results in U.S. history, the four overall World Cup titles, 4 Olympic medals and 18 World Championship medals including.
Hunt is very familiar with the Park City Ski Team and his career with the club again started in the early 1990 years. “My years with the U.S. ski team is tremendous and I am looking forward to my coaching, training and management experience to the Park City Ski Team,” Hunt said. “I started my career as a coach at the Park City Ski Team and have almost 20 years ago in Park City, since the opportunity to return, run the program and give something back to the community this is a special and exciting new step in lived in my career.
